Apartment Review for Morningside Apartments - Alexandria, VA

Let me start off by saying that you get what you pay for: the price and sq ft of the 1 bedroom is what attracted us. $949 for 912 sq ft in this area of VA is GREAT! But don't be fooled: -We've been here 1 year and they've exterminated 4 times; the black beetles (cuz they're not roaches) come back every time. -they have rats; I've seen one every day for the past 2 weeks (maybe because it's warmer out b/c I didn't notice them before). -DO NOT use the rent drop box; ALWAYS go into the office and get a receipt. the one month we put our rent check in the box, they lost it or something and then charged us damn near $150 late fee. unfortunately we didn't have duplicate checks so we couldn't fight it. -Maintenance requests; always follow up to make sure they put them in OR go directly to the maintenance office, file a request, and ask for a copy of the paperwork or it won't get done. -visitor parking is horrible; you get one guest pass. guests have to find parking on the street AND use the guest pass or they WILL get towed. more than one guest car? oh well, sucks for you. they can TRY to find parking around the corner by the townhouses or park on the street w/out a pass and risk getting towed. -one garbage can at the end of the community. hope you don't live far away because you'll be carrying your trash over there or putting it on the trunk of your car and driving it over. -management really doesn't care one way or the other. they smile to get you in there but once you live there, they don't really give a damn about you and your problems. -safety; there's always someone standing around outside regardless of the time. i get up early for work or come home late from the club, someone is ALWAYS outside. they've never hassled me or anything but it's a little creepy. FINAL NOTE: **price and space are a plus but if you want quality, security, and cleanliness DON'T move here**
