My rating from another apt rating site says it all. I had forgotten about this site for awhile, therefore, I am now adding my update. It has now been one year to the day and I am hoping to fix my credit so I can get out soon. As of today, there are five unattended kids under me running like horses and banging on the walls afternoon and nights. Of course no mgmt intervention after calling last week. Same old letter sending line. I knocked on their door this morning and five kids answered and denied all. Two were four and five and the others were six or seven. No parents were around. Next step CPS! Until then, patience!*%^&.... Starting at $1034 per month plus water, heat and electric! Twenty people can live in a one bedroom and 35 in a two....We have roaches, mice, rats, booming,Latin music on every floor, paper thin walls, a gerry rigged heating system, garbage in the hallways and often on the grounds, unsafe lighting around the complex, the maintenance is shoddy. There is no security, no Laundromat, no swimming Pool, sex offender tenants, violent drug busts, rude, nasty, loud neighbors some of who wash play loud music while washing their cars in the parking lot. There is a constant thrux of people with loud voices coming and going all hours of then night and day. When you come home there is usually a couple of scraggly looking, cross eyed dudes drinking on the steps. Everything is loud here! LOUD, LOUD, the kids, the parents, the older people. The Motto here at ACHC is "Anything Goes!" As long as you pay your rent and our fees, we do not give a rats behind how many people live in you apartment, what crimes you have committed or are committing. RENTER BEWARE! Most of the problems in this Coop/Complex/Slum are the result of the management company. The other problem stems from the problematic and pitiful and inexperienced Cooperative Board and members. I am not an expert on Coop management, but a lot of the decisions made come from an odd group of Board members, most of whom have no clue about apartment management. For example, I received a notice on my door one day stating that the Board noticed that a lot of screens were torn or missing from, apartment windows and should be replaced. I had to laugh at this, as it is obvious their priorities are quite mixed up. There are people who have no air conditioners or other major things in their apartments! From my experience living here as a section 8 tenant, this Coop wants to be a small island amongst a mostly beautiful City, Alexandria, and it is just that, a small poorly run island. If you rent here or think of becoming a member, you must have to be out of your mind. As I decry this place, I will say a few good things. It does have a nice refrigerator and bathtub, in addition to being near buses and stores. When I leave my apartment to go out I feel refreshed at leaving and entering into civilization. UPDATE: Four months and my oven is still not fixed. I have sent two letters, had two code inspectors come by, spoken to legal aid, and still the cheapos have not fixed it. I printed out a photo of the mysterious part that is supposed to be replaced and it costs all of $39.95! Another email to the management office in Tennessee. The HUD Inspector will be here in June, so he will have to fix it. One more email to CE. In closing I will warn those would be renters out there that if you screw up your credit and think it will not effect you later, it will. This is where you will live for awhile. Stay tuned for the YouTube video and more photos of living the low income life.... |
