Apartment Review for Avalon At Cameron Court - Alexandria, VA

I'll start with the leaking toilet saga.....June 2008 My wife complains to the front Office that toilet appears to be constantly seeping water and our water bills have been progressively getting higher from April 2008 by around $50 dollars a month. Maintenance man checks this and says there isn't a problem. July's bill arrives and is for a whopping $800! I take this bill around to the reception and I'm told by one of the Office staff that there is a leak on the third floor which Avalon are addressing and a recalculated bill will arrive in the post. I do nothing and await recalculated bill. August bill arrives $1000 + $800 from previous month. I then angrily go down to the reception to complain. Receptionist denies all knowledge of me or the wife ever coming in to request maintenance look at cistern and "this must be our first complaint". Legally I'm obliged to pay the bill and to avoid ruining my credit rating, do so. Eventually a new cistern is fitted by Avalon (which has since had new parts fitted on more than on occasion but now as soon as the cistern makes a noise I don't like the sound of we complain). This toilet has also flooded the apartment on three occasions, once without being flushed!. Dec08, The guy upstairs decides to move his fridge not relising the fridge is plummed in, hence that his how his ice machine works and not by magic. Cue floods of water through kitchen,garage and bathroom ceiling. We call the emergency line and are told that the plumber cannot be contact and there is nothing further they can do.After two hours of indoor rain, guy upstairs is finally able to contact someone from Avalon who send someone three hours later. I've had parcels Fedexed and asked at reception if they have taken them in to be told 'no' then asked another person who has got the parcel from a drawer. The Office staff really are a law unto themselves. This, my friends, really is the tip of the iceberg and I have plenty more tales of woe I could tell you. I'm not bitter nor twisted and I am actually a fairly laid back guy but the incompetance of the Office staff at this place is beyond belief.
