Apartment Review for Avalon At Cameron Court - Alexandria, VA

Looking at the other reviews, I couldn’t agree more. I like Avalon at Cameron Court for the location, it is close to Old Towne and you can walk to the Metro. I also like the high ceilings in my apartment (Duke Loft). But as other reviewers have noted, the front office leaves much to be desired. To get anything from them you need to follow up several times. For example, we started to notice some abandoned cars that were parked next to our building. The tags were expired, tires were flat ect. We complained about the cars several times, and it took them nearly 9 months to finally have them towed. We experienced another issue when we tried to break our lease because we bought a house. Since the lease termination policy isn’t very clear and is open ended in the lease document, we went to the office to ask for clarification. The office advised us of the policy, but failed to mention that the policy changes based on the capacity of the community. Once we signed a contract on our house, we went back to deliver our notice and were advised that the termination policy had changed. The office refused to work with us to a reasonable solution and we were forced to follow the new policy. It made our move to our new home very financially stressful becaues they refused to let us break the lease. The community has some nice aspects, but please be sure to watch out for the front office.
