Apartment Review for Portals Of Alexandria - Alexandria, VA

This is the worst apartment I have ever lived in. The roach problem is horrible. We kept asking them to take care of it since the first day we moved in. Finally about 2 weeks later they said they sprayed something, but we still had roaches! We finally got the combat roach traps to put in the corners and they were way better that anything mgmt did (if anything).

We signed a 6 month lease...We had intentions to live there for the duration, so we gave them 30 days notice before our lease was up. We didn't realize that we had to give 60 DAYS notice. When we asked the apartment manager if there was any flexibility with that, she was sooo rude and unprofessional, was instigating a screaming match and told us absolutely not and that we were the only people she has ever dealt with in the 14 years she has worked in the apartment industry that has ever had a misunderstanding with the terms of their lease...I believe she just lied right to our faces!

Upon moving out, we realized that the back door of the building was broken, so anyone could come in without a key. I don't know how long that door had been unlocked 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It would probably explain the stalker we had on our floor that mgmt did nothing about, and the bum sleeping in one of the laundry rooms!

The parking situation is good. Plenty of parking...But ladies, be careful. I was approached in the parking lot by a strange man. Luckily, I was able to get into my car very quickly to get away. I told the security guard on duty, and he kindly walked me to my car at night, if he was there, but the apartment manager did not care. She never even asked me any questions to try to resolve any other security problems.

I could go on and on even more about multiple other problems with this apartment complex, but you catch my drift...You've been warned!
