Apartment Review for Sussex At Kingstowne - Alexandria, VA

Do your homework, there are two other rental apartments in Kingstowne and the prices are comparable, however if you go to the website listed below and search complaint history you will find that Sussex has more complaints than the other two rental apartments combined. http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/consumer/tenant/ The Kingstowne neighborhood is really nice, I love it so much that I've purchased a property just down the street. Sussex is not bad, I enjoyed living here and I had no major problems prior to this. I ve lived at Sussex for 2 years and I've always paid my rent on time. However, I ve recently moved out and the company wants me to pay $1257.00 to replace the carpet in the entire apartment or they will send me to a collections agency. The thing is they usually replace the carpet after every tenant anyway. They sent me a letter yesterday (Tuesday) requiring a response in writing, as soon as I got home that evening I hand delivered a letter asking them to allow me to pay to have the carpets professionally cleaned. Today (Wednesday) I got a call back after hours telling me that they have already scheduled to have the carpet replaced on Friday (day after tomorrow) and that it will cost me $1257.00. I hung up and called the cleaning company but it was after hours so I called Christopher at Sussex back only to be told that I am not allowed back on the property without him and that if I they do not replace the carpet by friday they will charge me a daily rate for the place!!!! So now if I do not pay $1257.00 to replace the carpet they will send me to a collections agency. The fact that I have paid all my rent on time every single month for the past 2 years is completely irrelevant!!!!
