Apartment Review for Sussex At Kingstowne - Alexandria, VA

I rented at Sussex for 1 year and paid my rent on time every month. When I moved out after my lease was done, they sent me a letter saying that I had left an ink stain on the carpet and would have to pay to replace it and that they had pictures. I know for a fact that I had never spilled any ink on the carpet. It was a complete lie and I had to pay $500 to replace the carpet in order not to hurt my credit. I talked to my lawyer who said it would have cost more to fight this in court than to pay them the money. This also happened to other people I know who left these apartments. Sounds like the management company is running a scam. My advice to anyone who lives there is to photograph every room before you leave and leave copies of the pictures with the rental office, get them to agree that there's nothing wrong with the way you left the place, that way they can't get you. I hope this review makes them lose money.
